Holistic Health Certificate

An excellent program for health care professionals, massage therapists, social workers, counselors, teachers, college students and anyone interested in living healthier. As with any certificate program, it is designed to give educational information on natural and holistic medicine. It does not allow the recipient to practice medicine. Those who are interested in diagnosis and treatment! Degree in natural, holistic, Traditional Chinese Medicine is to be referred to our “Medical Apprenticeship” program.

  • No educational pre-requisites require.
  • Hands-on training, better than any “on-line” program.
  • No require textbooks.
  • Convenient schedule. One or two lectures per month (usually weekends or weekday evenings).
  • Lectures/classes are on-going. Each workshop is approximately 1&1/2 hours. A total of 12 workshops that must be finished in 2 years period. Missed class(es) can be repeated.
  • Easy to achieve. Students enroll in small classes. Open book test after completion of at least 12 workshops.
  • Handouts and learning materials will be provided.
  • You can begin your certificate program at any time. Workshops usually start in March/April and end in November.
  • A $25,000 value at ‘major universities for just $1500.00

No charge to CIM employees and interns.

  • If a student is under 18 years old, must have parental consent (written).

How to apply?
Come to the Visalia Clinic to pick up an application form. Submit the application form with half of tuition due before the start of your first workshop. The second half of tuition due three months later. No tuition refund after the first class. Call 559-625-4246 for more information.

Internships

Internship is available in Holistic and Natural medicine. Great opportunity to learn first-hand with TCM doctor. CIM is the only Clinic in the Central Valley that does not charge for internship positions.

Doctorate Degree in Osteopathy, Podiatry, Pharmacy, Optometry, Dentistry, Psychology, or Veterinary.

Masters Degree in Education, Physical Therapy, Health Care Administration, Public Health, Ministry.

Bachelors Degree in Nursing, Biology, Chemistry, Teaching, Social Work, Psychology/Counseling.

Internship objectives and descriptions can be sent to your University for school credits. Interested candidates must have a GPA if 3.2 or higher. Resume with 3 work references can be emailed to Dr. Kwong.

Business Degree Students or Graduates

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or at least three years of full-time college experience with 3.2 GPA or higher.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic with a positive professional attitude.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Initiative and analytical skills.
  • Goal-oriented and results are driven.
  • Critical thinking and organizational/follow-up skills with attention to details.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment; perform tasks in a timely manner.

Medical Apprenticeship


Are you interested in becoming a Doctor in Traditional Chinese Medicine/ Acupuncturist? Are you interested in a career in natural and holistic medicine? But, like most students in the Central Valley, you:

  • Cannot afford the high cost of medical school.
  • Do not want a structure academic full-time classroom studies.
  • Prefer not to leave home/ family as a medical student.
  • Do not want to hassle with the medical admission application process and testing.
  • Want a direct entrance into a professional clinical medical program without a bachelors degree.

There will be no tuition fees charged to the Apprentice. This program allows the trainee/apprentice to apply directly to take the medical exam after a minimum period of 4 years training at The Center for Integrated Medicine. Center for Integrated Medicine will provide formal clinical training with supplemental theoretical and didactic instruction. As well as assistance in placing Apprentice in a clinical hospital residency after the apprenticeship is completed. This program is approved by the California Dept. of Consumer Affairs and authorized by the U.S. Dept. of Education.

Applicants must have the following academic pre-requisites with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 and a science GPA of 3.0.

  • 1 semester General Biology (laboratory must be included).
  • 1 semester General Chemistry (laboratory must be included).
  • 1 semester General Physics (laboratory must be included).
  • 1 semester Human Anatomy (microscopic and gross anatomy; laboratory must be included).
  • 1 semester Human Physiology (laboratory must be included).
  • 1 semester Nutrition
  • 1 semester of General Psychology (counseling skills must be included)
  • 1 semester Botany (Plant Biology) or Microbiology (laboratory must be included)
  • 1 semester of General Chemistry II or Biochemistry (laboratory must be included).
  • 2 units of Medical Terminology
  • 1 semester of Statistics, Trigonometry or Calculus
  • 2 semesters of English (Composition, Essay, Creative writing, Literature must be included).
  • 1 semester of Economics or Business Writing
  • 2 semesters of Humanities (Archaeology or Ancient History must be included).
  • 1 semester of Sociology.
  • 1 semester in General Health & Hygiene.
  • 1 semester in Public Speaking

All science courses must be designed for pre-med majors. Ask your college counselor if you are unsure. If you want to include high school AP courses, only an “A” grade is acceptable for any of the above subjects.

Other Requirements are the following.

  • At least 23 years of age with a valid drivers license.
  • Computer literate.
  • Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds if needed and able to get up from chair readily.

Candidates are encouraged to apply with the following information.

  • Resume
  • Two recommendation letters (one must be from school’s counselor, teacher or other staff)
  • Personal statement (no more than two pages). Explain why you are a good candidate to become a Physician of TCM/ Acupuncturist? TCM/ Acupuncture is one of the most requested forms of therapy in today‘s healthcare. Why is it so?
  • Official college(s) transcript
  • Passport photo and copy of drivers license.
  • Commitment letter from a family member; family support of candidate’s medical education (no more than one page)
  • $25.00 application fee (non-refundable)
